Danish Superliga club OB have opened the door to signing former Chelsea striker Marko Mitrovic, by taking the 20-year-old on trial.

Mitrovic has been given the moniker "the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic" in his homeland of Sweden due to his physique, playing style and development at Ibrahimovic’s former club Malmo before joining Chelsea.

The forward landed at Chelsea in 2008 with hopes high over his future, but injuries badly disrupted his spell at Stamford Bridge and, despite flashes of brilliance, Mitrovic departed last month when his contract ended.

Now the 20-year-old will have an opportunity to win a deal at OB and relaunch his career in Denmark for next season.

OB have been busy in the summer transfer market, picking up Mohammed Diarra and Cedric N’Koum from Paris Saint-Germain, signing Nicolai Jorgensen from Brondby and sealing deals for Emil Larsen (Lyngby) and Hannes Anier (Flora Tallin).

The Danish outfit will hope that Mitrovic can be yet another signing, if he can impress coach Troels Bech.

Whether Mitrovic can live up to his tag of "the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic" in time remains to be seen however.
