Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen want to take attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea to bolster their squad for the new season.

De Bruyne signed for Chelsea in the 2011 January transfer window from Genk, but instantly loaned the 21-year-old back to the club to complete the Jupiler Pro League campaign.

The Belgium international has now linked up with Chelsea and is set to be assessed on the club’s pre-season tour of North America.

The possibility of De Bruyne being loaned out for the 2012/13 season exists and Werder Bremen hope this could lead to the midfielder landing in Germany.

Chelsea have already extended the loan of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with Atletico Madrid, while striker Romelu Lukaku also looks set to spend some time away from Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, the Belgian hitman could also be an option for Werder Bremen, who have looked at taking him on loan too.

Werder Bremen’s relationship with Chelsea has been strengthened in recent months as the two negotiated for Marko Marin, who has joined Roberto Di Matteo’s Champions League winners.
