Mali midfielder Tongo Hamed Doumbia has failed to agree terms with West Brom over a switch to the Hawthornes, but the Rennes man may still seal a deal to play his football in the English Premier League in 2012/13.
The 22-year-old, who made 25 appearances in Ligue 1 for Rennes last season, seemed set to sign for the Baggies, but now that deal appears to be off.
According to French sports daily L’Equipe however, Doumbia is also wanted by Sunderland and Aston Villa, who may now use the opportunity to launch their own swoops for the midfielder.
Doumbia joined Rennes three years ago from Chateauroux, having turned out for the latter between 2007 and 2009.
He is under contract with Rennes until 2014.
