Dutch outfit FC Twente are pondering a swoop for out-of-favour Inter hitman Luc Castaignos when Luuk de Jong is sold to Borussia Monchengladbach.
Talks over De Jong’s switch to Borussia-Park are continuing and the 21-year-old could even be presented in Germany as early as tomorrow.
That will leave the Tukkers needing a goalscorer to fill De Jong’s boots and Castaignos, who joined Inter from Feyenoord last summer, is a popular option in Enschede.
Castaignos struggled for playing time with the Nerazzurri last season, manging just six appearances in Serie A.
He rejected a loan switch away from Inter in January, but could move this summer and is proving to be a popular option for a number of clubs.
Linked with the Dutchman are Everton, West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, Montpellier and Sporting Lisbon.
Twente however will hope that Castaignos desires a return to his native country in search of more playing time.
Former club Feyenoord were also interested, but dropped out when Inter made it clear they are looking to sell the striker rather than loan him.
