Brazilian giants Santos are interested in bringing former star man Robinho back to the club and can be expected to test AC Milan’s desire to keep the 28-year-old.

The Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A side are looking to considerably strengthen their squad and have already contacted Chelsea winger Florent Malouda for this purpose.

However, the Brazilian side want to capture a bigger fish than Malouda for next season and have seemingly earmarked ex-forward Robinho as their primary target.

The Brazilian international represented Santos from 2002 until 2005 before moving to Real Madrid. The player then came back to the club in 2010 on loan from Manchester City before sealing his move to Italian giants AC Milan.

Now, the Peixe faithful want their academy product back with the team on a permanent basis.

But according to sources in Brazil, Santos do not have exorbitant funds to spend and are only looking to table an offer consisting of €4M and Brazilian keeper Rafael for the former Real Madrid forward.

It seems unlikely that the Serie A giants will settle for such a meager amount, especially as the club invested an astounding €18M in the Brazilian to buy him from Manchester City in 2010.

Moreover, AC Milan officials will be wary of the backlash they will face from the already frustrated Rossoneri fans if the 28-year-old forward is allowed to go back to his native country.
