Spanish side Valencia are interested in snapping up Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano and negotiations have started between both clubs to agree a deal for the player.
Los Che are in the market for a defensive midfielder and it seems that manager Mauricio Pellegrino has his heart set on signing the Uruguayan international to fill the spot.
According to Italian newspaper La Stampa, Valencia have made their move for Gargano and negotiations have been initiated with the Naples-based club.
However, Los Che are more interested in a loan deal for the Uruguyan while Napoli are only interested in selling the player.
This is the only point which has stalled Gargano’s move from Italy to Spain, but it seems that the Spanish outfit will finally shell out the cash in order to secure the services of the 27-year-old.
Napoli are holding out for a €5M fee for the experienced campaigner who has 37 Uruguay caps to his name.
The clubs are likely to reach an agreement soon over the terms of Gargano’s transfer to Valencia though, as the defensive midfielder’s agent Alessandro Lucci will soon meet with the officials at Mestalla to negotiate a contract for the player.
The 27-year-old joined Napoli back in 2007 from Danubio and has appeared in Serie A 165 times since his arrival.
