Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has taken Brazilian playmaker Diego off the transfer market.

Diego spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid after falling out of favour with Magath.

He seemed set for the exit door ever since and featured as a regular at the Vicente Calderon throughout the previous campaign.

Atletico Madrid though did not choose to make Diego’s stay a permanent one, meaning he will soon be back at the Volkswagen Arena.

“I’m waiting for him to return and I’m hoping he is in shape”, said Magath to Bild.

“We definitely want to keep him.

“Diego is no longer on the transfer market.”

Diego was snapped up by Wolfsburg in 2010 from Juventus, costing the German club €15M.

He previously played in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen between 2006 and 2009.
