Luc Castaignos is keen to sign for FC Twente in order to speed up his development, he agent has insisted.

Twente want to sign Castaignos to replace Luuk de Jong, who has been sold to Borussia Monchengladbach for €15M.

Castaignos himself is ready to return to his native Holland after a season on the bench at Serie A giants Inter. And this despite interest from clubs in England, France and Portugal.

For Castaignos though taking the next step forward in his career, by playing in familiar surroundings, looks to be key.

“Luc is consciously choosing FC Twente because he wants to develop as a footballer”, the player’s agent Karim El Atmani told De Telegraaf.

“He spent a year at Inter, but now wants to make an investment in his future.”

There is though still some way to go to close the deal, which is complicated by the fact that English side QPR have promised to beat any other club’s offer.

“There must still be conversations between the clubs”, admitted El Atmani.

“But it looks good. The chances are still that Luc will go to Twente.”

And if not Twente, then Sporting Lisbon are his next choice.

“It’s Twente and Sporting Lisbon. Twente are definitely his first choice.”
