Manchester United must increase their offer for talented midfielder Lucas Moura if they want to snare the Brazilian.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are pushing ahead in their bid to sign the 19-year-old from Sao Paulo – but the Brazilian giants have insisted the Red Devils must improve their offer for one of the South American country’s brightest prospects.

Indeed, within Brazil, Sao Paulo believe only Neymar is better in the hottest youngster stakes.

“Manchester United made a good offer, of €35M”, said Sao Paulo director Marco Aurelio Cunha to Tutto Mercato, “but they need to do a little more.”

The Red Devils made their initial move for Lucas Moura last weekend and the player is also wanted by Italian giants Inter.

And Cunha stressed how highly the midfielder is rated by his club in a further sign that he will not be sold for anything less than top dollar.

“For us only Neymar is worth more. After him comes Lucas and we don’t want to sell him for less than his true value.”

Sao Paulo only hold 80% of Lucas’ rights and are believed to be looking to earn a minimum of €30M from his sale. This means Manchester United must up their offer to at least €37.5M.
