Thiago Silva has insisted he did not push for a move from AC Milan to Paris Saint-Germain.

Silva recently landed at the Parc des Prince after PSG paid €42M for his signature, later snapping up his former Rossoneri team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic too in a spectacular double raid on Serie A.

The Brazilian stopper was a popular figure amongst the Milan faithful, who regularly compared him to the legendary club icon Franco Baresi.

Losing the 27-year-old hurt the Milan faithful – but the player has now reassured them that he did not push to move, even for the €9M per year wages on offer in France.

“Moving to Paris was not 100% my decision”, said Silva, who is currently preparing for the Olympic Games football tournament with Brazil.

“I had finally renewed my contract.”

And he stamped on suggestions the move was for money.

“I didn’t move to earn more than I earned in Milan.

“It’s not my fault. But now I hope to make history at PSG.”
