Rather than worry about Paris Saint-Germain’s big-spending ways, Montpellier coach Rene Girard has welcome the influx of talent to the Parc des Princes.

Giroud’s Montpellier pipped Carlo Ancelotti’s PSG to the Ligue 1 title last season, but for 2012/13 their task of holding onto the crown looks a stiff one.

PSG have again ambitiously added to their squad this summer, with notably Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva both arriving from AC Milan, while a further world-class recruit is mooted.

For Girard though, this is not reason to worry, but instead reason to feel positive for the fortunes of Ligue 1, with the pressure wholly on PSG to gel together a new-look team.

"It is good for our league and we already know we will fill the Stade de la Mosson when the Parisians come here", said the Montpellier boss.

"But, it [the expensive signings] is their problem.

"They will have to manage their squad. On paper, it is obviously a team of superstars. For us, it will be a challenge to overcome them, a motivator, with no envy."
