New Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong believes that scoring goals in the Bundesliga will be a much more difficult affair than the Eredivisie.

De Jong has cost Gladbach €15M to sign from Dutch outfit FC Twente, where he was a prolific goal-getter and rated as one of the brightest talents in Holland.

Now the 21-year-old will be charged with finding the back of the net at Borussia-Park and helping to replace the 18 goals scored by Marco Reus last season; Reus has now joined Borussia Dortmund.

And while De Jong will give his all, he is under no illusion about the size of the task in front of him.

"It is definitely harder to score in Germany", De Jong admitted to Bild.

"In Holland, there is a certain level, the Bundesliga is a very strong competition", he added.

"Also, in the Bundesliga every game is a big game.

"Marco Reus scored 18 goals last season. I also want to score a similar amount, but it is going to be difficult because it is my first season."

De Jong though has received backing from countryman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who bagged an astonishing 48 goals in 48 games last season for Schalke.

"I think Luuk will adapt quickly", said the Dutchman.
