Marseille have told interested parties that the price required to sign striker Loic Remy this summer is €18M.

Three clubs have expressed a liking for the 25-year-old – Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Lille – but all are being forced to take a fresh look by Marseille’s stance.

Spurs and Lille’s interest in Remy is long standing, while Newcastle are new to the chase.

According to Le 10 Sport, Marseille president Vincent Labrune has told the three suitors that he will not allow Remy to exit the Stade Velodrome for less than €18M, a turn of events which has already served to cool interest in the striker.

Alan Pardew’s Magpies are thought only willing to pay up to €12M for Remy – and Labrune’s declaration has cooled Newcastle’s interest instantly.

Spurs and Lille too are reluctant to meet Marseille’s asking price for the striker; it is a situation which suits Marseille, as the Stade Velodrome outfit want to keep Remy.

The forward is also not ready to push for a move, leading Labrune to be confident that Remy will be happy to play his football next season in Ligue 1 under Elie Baup.
