Internacional’s president Giovanni Luigi has confirmed that advanced talks are well under way between the Brazilian club and Chelsea over the transfer of young midfield prodigy Oscar.

Chelsea have been looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season and have been on a spending spree. The club have already tied up Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, and Oscar is close to becoming the Blues’ next notable capture this summer.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo has been on the lookout for a goalscoring midfielder and it seems that the Chelsea management have finally decided that the Brazilian is the perfect fit for the job.

Oscar has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer and the Red Nation’s president has finally confirmed that the two clubs are in advanced talks with regards to the transfer of the central midfielder and futhermore that a verbal agreement has already been reached.

“Conversations with Chelsea are very advanced and there is already a verbal agreement between the two clubs. Now we must put everything on paper", said the Internacional supremo to Radio Guiaba.

After Luigi’s confirmation, Brazilian sources are speculating that the player, who is already in London with Brazil’s Olympic squad and has had a medical at Chelsea, will complete a €30M transfer that may well be announced on Friday.

Oscar is rated very highly in Brazil and his CV already makes for impressive reading. The youngster was so influential for Internacional last season that he was called up to the Brazil side in September 2011 and went on to earn his first cap at the tender age of 20.

The 20-year-old started his career at Sao Paulo and moved to Internacional in 2010. The Brazilian attacking midfielder has made 36 appearances in the Campeonato Brasileiro for the Red Nation and scored 11 while contributing another five.
