French shot-stopper Hugo Lloris is likely to stay with French giants Lyon after Jean-Michel Aulas, Lyon’s president, confirmed that there have been no offers for the Frenchman from any club.
Lloris has been linked with moves to England since the beginning of the transfer window. First, the French international was mooted as a target for Liverpool and Arsenal; then North London club Tottenham Hotspur emerged as the most likely candidates to buy the Lyon captain.
A deal seemed likely at one stage between Les Gones and the Lilywhites, but after Aulas adopted a stubborn approach, not willing to drop his €20M asking price for the goalkeeper, Spurs had no choice but to cool their interest.
Now Aulas has provided an update on the transfer status of the French captain saying, “We have no official proposal for Lloris."
The president then added that a meeting will soon be held with the player to discuss his future at Lyon, “We will speak with the boy on Friday and make a decision”, he told Le Progres.
Even though the Ligue 1 giants have rebuffed offers for the 25-year-old, Les Gones may have to accept lower bids for their star goalkeeper later on in the transfer window if they are unable to offload any other performers. The club’s financial status is a concern, especially with a lack of Champions League football for the new season.
