Despite Marseille’s continued interest in Baptiste Reynet this summer, Dijon are not ready to part ways with the goalkeeper and have confirmed that the player is not for sale.
L’OM have been keeping an eye on the 21-year-old after the custodian impressed with his shot-stopping abilities during the last campaign. The youngster conceded 58 goals in 37 matches with Dijon, an impressive return considering the poor defence of the former League 1 outfit.
However, the recently relegated French side are not interested in cashing in on their prized asset this summer and have rebuffed Marseille’s approach for the young keeper.
The Ligue 2 club’s sporting director Sergio Perez clearly stated in a recent interview that Dijon are not ready to lose their best player as the management are keen to build the team around the 21-year-old.
“We understand that the attraction of a club like Marseille is great. But for us it is clear: We want to build our team around him [Reynet], and do not want to sell him as it would unbalance the whole squad”, stated Dijon’s sporting director.
Les Phoceens have been trying to lure Reynet away from Dijon as Marseille’s manager Elie Baup has earmarked the young Frenchman as the long-term replacement for Steve Mandanda, the current number 1 at l’OM.
It remains to be seen whether Reynet will push for a move to an illustrious club like Marseille or whether he will settle for another year with Dijon who will play in Ligue 2 this season.
