Filippo Inzaghi has hung up his boots as a professional footballer, but will continue his long association with AC Milan as a coach.
The 38-year-old had been expected to continue his playing career away from the Rossoneri after his contract expired; a move to Swiss side Sion was mooted.
But Inzaghi has decided that now is the best time to take the next step in his career – off the pitch.
The Italian has inked a two-year contract to coach Milan’s youth teams.
Inzaghi will be hoping to pass on the knowledge of incisive runs and superb positioning which saw him become a prolific goalscorer in Italian football.
The striker joined Milan in 2001 from Juventus.
He started his career with hometown club Piacenza.
