Bundesliga club Werder Bremen are pushing to loan Belgium schemer Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea.

According to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, the German giants have contacted the Stamford Bridge outfit to offer to take De Bruyne on loan for the 2012/13 campaign.

Werder Bremen are confident that if the 21-year-old is sent away from Chelsea for regular first team football to speed up his development, they should be amongst the front-runners for his signature.

The Bundesliga outfit enjoy a good relationship with the Blues, which has only been strengthened by the recent transfer of Marko Marin between the two clubs.

Now the northern Germany side want to use that level of trust to bolster their squad with De Bruyne.

The former Genk midfielder has been refreshingly open about the likelihood of him being loaned out for next season, with competition for a starting spot at Chelsea fierce.

A switch to Werder Bremen may be something that the Belgian would not oppose, especially as the Bundesliga would represent a jump in standard from the Belgian Jupiler Pro League in which he plied his trade last season.

The final decision though is set to rest with Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, who could yet choose to keep the attack-minded midfielder as he looks to inject youth into the Champions League winners.
