Argentine forward Matias Suarez is likely to leave Anderlecht this summer and a number of clubs have joined the race to sign the Argentine.
The player has been linked with a vast variety of sides including the likes of Premier League giants Arsenal. He is firmly expected to part ways with the Belgian club soon with CSKA Moscow in the driving seat in the chase for his signature.
According to reports in Belgium, Suarez has even signed a contract with the Russian club. However, Anderlecht’s general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck quickly denied that suggestion and said that negotiations have been taking place with a number of interested parties.
“Several clubs have expressed interest. CSKA are one of them, but it is too early to talk of an agreement. Negotiations can still fail”, Van Holsbeeck informed Sporza.
However, it can be confirmed that the Russian outfit are favourites to sign the Argentine after Van Holsbeeck met with officials from the Moscow-based club in Brussels on Wednesday night. According to Sudpresse, CSKA are ready to cough up €14.9M for the winger-cum-forward.
The stumbling block for the transfer may well be the fact that the Belgian champions are not ready to sell their star man before ensuring qualification for the group stage of the Champions League.
If the transfer does go through then Suarez will be the third player to move from Anderlecht to Russia in recent months after Jonathan Leagear joined Terek Grozny and Mbark Boussoufa went to Anzhi Makhachkala.
