Fiorentina may cash in on Juan Manuel Vargas, with Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg interested in the winger, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

La Viola have been active in the transfer market of late and recently secured the signatures of midfielders Alberto Aquilani and Borja Valero.

The Italian outfit are also interested in Hoffenheim’s Dutch forward Ryan Babel as they continue the rebuilding process at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

However, to balance the incomings, there must also be outgoings, and Vargas’ name is high on the list of possible departures.

Russian giants Zenit, bossed by Italian Luciano Spalletti, are believed to be interested in snapping up Vargas and a bid could soon arrive for the Peruvian.

Vargas joined Fiorentina in 2008 from Catania and soon set about establishing himself at the club.

The 28-year-old has often been linked with a switch away from La Viola, with Liverpool a club regularly mooted as holding an interest.
