Holland’s Eredivisie rights for the next 12 years have been bought by Fox TV, earning the Dutch top flight more than €1 billion.

Fox, who hold also TV rights for the English Premier League and German Bundesliga under the name of Sky, have taken over the Eredivisie Live company, buying 51% of its shares, while Eredivisie clubs keep hold of 49%.

The deal also sees Fox wipe out the €60M debt that Eredivisie Live was carrying.

Under the terms of the agreement, the first year of the deal will see Fox pay €60M for the right to cover Eredivisie games, while this will then rise steadily, to €80M and then €100M.

The deal will mean on average €80M per season paid to Dutch clubs.

The long-term agreement is due to start from the 2013/14 season and run until 2025.
