German side Hoffenheim have announced the signing of Spanish striker Joselu from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. The player joins the Bundesliga outfit after penning a four-year deal with the club.

Joselu featured regularly for Real Madrid’s B-team, Real Madrid Castilla, after moving to the Spanish capital in 2009. He even gained call-ups to the senior Real Madrid line-up twice, once in La Liga and once in the Copa del Rey.

Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel expressed his delight at the capture of the 22-year-old and insisted that the player has the potential to become one of the greats for the Bundesliga side.

“Joselu showed his class at Real Madrid, he is still so young and has much potential”, said the German coach.

“It is an excellent signing for Hoffenheim”, added the 39-year-old.

The forward started his career with Celta Vigo in 2008 and after a solid showing for Celta B in the 2008/09 season, was snapped up by Los Blancos before being loaned back immediately to his former club.

The 22-year-old was impressive during his loan spell as he contributed four goals in 24 appearances for Celta Vigo. He was then recalled at the end of the 2009/10 season and was made a part of the Real Madrid B team.

Joselu played regularly under Alberto Toril scoring 16 goals in the 2010/11 campaign and finding the back of the net 26 times last season, helping the team gain promotion to the Segunda Division.

Hoffenheim fans will be expecting similar goal returns from the Spanish striker who is the second Real Madrid player who has left for Germany in search of first-team football, after Daniel Carvajal moved to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer.
