Welsh striker Craig Bellamy has left Liverpool to sign for Cardiff City.

Liverpool have confirmed the exit of the 33-year-old speedster, who has penned a two-year contract with the Bluebirds after being granted a free transfer exit.

The move brings to an end Bellamy’s second spell at Anfield, after he signed for the Reds in 2011, and bristled with excitement at the chance to play under Kenny Dalglish.

Dalglish was sacked by Liverpool earlier this summer, being replaced by former Reading boss Brendan Rodgers – but Bellamy will not turn out for the Northern Irishman in a Reds jersey.

Bellamy will now attempt to help his hometown club to gain promotion to the Premier League from the fiercely competitive Championship.
