Portuguese giants Benfica have been linked with young Polish goalkeeper Kamil Miazek, who has been dubbed the "new Wojciech Szczesny", and has been training with Feyenoord.

The 16-year-old shot-stopper currently turns out for Ekstraklasa club GKS Belchatow, but has been earmarked for big things.

Miazek has been on the radar of a number of big European clubs, with the player having enjoyed time on trial at French Ligue 2 outfit Nantes, while he has also been spending time training with Feyenoord.

Miazek’s agent, Krzysztof Jakubczak, has admitted that cold hard cash will be behind any decision to send the goalkeeper abroad at such a young age.

"It was about money", said Jakubczak about Miazek’s trial period at Nantes and why the shot-stopper did not sign for the club.

"I won’t talk about the sums, but we concluded that it was worthwhile looking for another club."

It remains to be seen where Miazek will end up, but Benfica could be an agreeable destination for the young Pole, who has insisted he wants to follow in Szczesny’s footsteps.

"I am determined to go abroad", said Miazek.

"If there is a great opportunity that comes, then you must grab it. I want to follow in the footsteps of Wojciech Szczesny."
