Luka Modric is on the verge of finally becoming a Real Madrid player.
According to Madrid-based daily Marca, the Croatian schemer is en route to the Spanish capital after Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur thrashed out a deal.
Modric has already agreed a four-year contract which will net him €4.5M per year, less than the €5.3M Paris Saint-Germain are believed to have been prepared to pay, such is his desire to pull on the famous white shirt.
A finalising of the transfer of Modric to the Bernabeu is now imminent and Tottenham Hotspur are urgently seeking to replace the playmaker.
Indeed, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has identified FC Porto’s Joao Moutinho and Rennes Yann M’Vila as candidates, with sources in France having already confirmed the existence of an offer for the latter.
There seems to be little standing in the way of Modric’s official unveiling in the Spanish capital now, although there have been suggestions that Spurs want to completely wrap up the signing of his replacement before giving the final green light.
Nevertheless, Modric’s time as a Tottenham player is quickly coming to an end.
