The proposed move of Dedryck Boyata to FC Twente is shrouded in mystery as the Dutch club await word from the defender’s side, Manchester City, on whether the deal has been given the green light.
Boyata is keen to join the Tukkers and his father commented recently that it was "Twente or nothing" for the Belgian, who wants to secure playing time which would be elusive if he remained at the English champions.
But the ball is firmly in Manchester City’s court and Twente are waiting to hear whether Boyata will be allowed to spend the season in Holland.
Steve McClaren’s men are not however as desperate for Boyata as was the case a week ago, as defender Douglas now looks like staying put in Enschede; Douglas has been on the wanted lists of both Fulham and Newcastle United.
Boyata spent last season away from Manchester City, on loan at Bolton Wanderers, who were ultimately relegated.
He made 14 appearances for Owen Coyle’s Trotters.
