Manchester United have agreed to sell striker Dimitar Berbatov to Fiorentina for €5M, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Red Devils are thought to have faxed over acceptance of La Viola’s €5M bid for the Bulgarian, with the fee due to be paid in three installments.
Berbatov has now been granted permission to fly to Italy to put the finishing touches to his switch and undergo medical tests at Fiorentina.
Barring any last minute hiccups, Berbatov now looks set to end his four-year spell at Old Trafford, having signed for Manchester United from Tottenham Hotspur in 2008.
Berbatov has fallen down the pecking order at the English giants over the last two years and admitted earlier this summer that he felt it was better for all concerned if he left.
Now the 31-year-old will seek the first team football he craves at Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina and have the opportunity to make an impact in Serie A.
Manchester United have already begun to reshape their forward line and recently signed young Chilean Angelo Henriquez, who has been tipped to shine at Old Trafford.
