Brazilian full-back Maicon is poised for a switch to Manchester City after the English champions agreed a €4M fee with Inter, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Maicon, whose contract with the Nerazzurri expires next summer, has repeatedly been linked with the exit door throughout the transfer window, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain suggested as potential destinations.
But now the Brazil star has the opportunity to continue his career in England under the watchful eye of Roberto Mancini.
Maicon is widely considered to be one of the finest attacking full-backs in world football and won the Champions League with Inter in 2010.
He has appeared unsettled at the Nerazzurri of late though and talks on a new contract have failed to materialise, with the player mooted to want a new challenge after six years at the San Siro.
It remains to be seen whether Maicon will agree personal terms with Manchester City and ultimately land in England before the transfer window closes.
But his capture would be a coup for the Premier League champions and also offer the team vital attacking verve on the right flank, with Maicon loving to bomb forward from his right-back slot.
