Newcastle United are interested in Sochaux winger Ryad Boudebouz and the club are ready to swoop for him.

The Algerian has been the subject of a lot of interest this summer, with Marseille being the most heavily linked club.

According to sources in France and Algeria, the Magpies have made a late move for the winger and are now competing with Les Phoceens to lure Boudebouz away from Sochaux.

The 22-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder who usually plays on the right wing for the French side.

Boudebouz graduated from Sochaux’s academy in 2008 and has played for the first team regularly ever since.

He has made 130 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit in four seasons at the club, finding the back of the net 20 times. Last season he scored five goals in 28 appearances.

The Algerian international was set to join Marseille earlier this summer, but the club’s financial woes put a stop to the transfer and Les Phoceens cooled their interest.

With transfer deadline fast approaching however, it seems that both Marseille and Newcastle United are in the running for the attacking midfielder as each are eager to delight their fans by signing Boudebouz before the transfer window closes.
