Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the imminent signing of Dutch right-back Gregory van der Wiel from Ajax.

The French transfer window remains open until 4th September and Van der Wiel headed to Paris yesterday to put the finishing touches to a €6M move from Frank de Boer’s Dutch champions.

Ancelotti wanted to sign another right-back given that he can only call upon Christophe Jallet for the position at present, a situation which the Italian boss felt was less than ideal.

"I think that there won’t be any delay with the signature", said the PSG boss when asked about Van der Wiel’s arrival.

"He will probably start training with us next week", added the former Chelsea manager.

"Christophe was the only one who can play the position.

"There will be competition, but it is no problem for Christophe."

Van der Wiel has been persistently linked with the Ajax exit door for some time and has at points interested the likes of Inter, Valencia, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Holland international is now joining one of Europe’s wealthiest clubs and one which has once again splashed the cash this summer in an attempt to win the French title and make an impact in the Champions League.
