Anderlecht striker Milan Jovanovic has revealed that he rejected the chance to sign for Greek champions Olympiacos yesterday.

Olympiacos had targeted the former Liverpool star on what was a frantic final day of the summer transfer window.

But Jovanovic was not tempted by the three-year contract the Greek outfit placed in front of him and instead chose to remain in Belgium.

Indeed, for Jovanovic, leaving Anderlecht on the final day of the transfer window would have been very disloyal, giving the Belgian giants little time to replace him.

And so, he stayed.

"Yes, I refused an offer from the Greek club", Jovanovic told DH.

"I told them that I wanted to stay at Anderlecht.

"We’re not going to leave that way on the last day. It is a question of respect for my current employer."
