New Tottenham Hotspur signing Hugo Lloris has spoken of feeling proud at joining the Premier League giants, insisting that he could not refuse an offer which is a challenge both on a personal and professional level.

Spurs completed the capture of Lloris on transfer deadline day, finally bringing to an end a long pursuit of the France international goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old arrived at White Hart Lane from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, a side he was back watching on Saturday, as Les Gones beat Valenciennes 3-2 at the Stade Gerland.

And Spurs were firmly on the goalkeeper’s mind as he reflected on the move he has just made.

"I’m very excited to be going to play in one of the best championships in the world, if not the best", Lloris told Le Progres.

"It is a new step, a great challenge for my sporting and personal development."

Lloris also insisted that the move has not yet sunk in yet.

"I will only realise it when I am training in London. I am proud, even though I am sad to leave my team-mates, the fans who welcomed me when it was not easy to take over from Gregory Coupet."

The highly-rated French shot-stopper faces a challenge establishing himself as number 1 at Spurs however, where American goalkeeper Brad Friedel has continued his extraordinary form between the sticks.
