Cristiano Ronaldo has stamped on talk that his unhappiness at Real Madrid is related to wanting to be paid more money.

The Portuguese refused to celebrate either of his goals against Granada in La Liga at the weekend, in a 3-0 Real Madrid victory, claiming to be feeling "sad" and insisting that "the club know why".

Since that time, speculation has raged over what has unsettled Ronaldo and what the extent of his problems at the Bernabeu are.

It has been suggested that the Portugal international does not feel wanted in the Spanish capital and that he wants his pay to be upped.

But now Ronaldo himself has spoken out to claim that speculation money is behind his recent behaviour is well wide of the mark.

"I have been accused of wanting more money, but one day it will become clear that this is not the case", said the former Manchester United man in a statement.

Ronaldo also stressed that, whatever is unfolding, it will not affect his performances on the pitch for Los Blancos.

"I want to emphasise to the fans of Real Madrid that my motivation, dedication and commitment and will to win trophies will absolutely not be affected."
