Neymar has reiterated his desire to respect his current contract with Santos, despite knowing that a number of Europe’s biggest clubs would dearly love to buy him.

The 20-year-old striker was in action in Europe over the summer as part of Brazil’s team at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

He did his reputation no harm by putting his silky skills on display in front of many European scouts and quickly saw two of his team-mates in the tournament, Oscar and Lucas Moura, agree moves to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

But Neymar is not ready to leave his homeland just yet and is focusing on helping Santos, feeling a sense of honour over the contract he signed with the club.

"I want to play abroad. I have never denied that this is my dream", announced the striker at a press conference.

"But it is a bit early", he added.

"The time came for Oscar and Lucas Moura to leave, but I have a contract with Santos and I intend to respect it.

"Currently, I watch my friends play on TV."

Neymar is under contract with Santos until 2014.

It is widely believed that the striker wants to remain in his homeland until after Brazil host the World Cup in 2014, a tournament Neymar is eyeing playing a key role in.
