Ashley Young and Sir Alex Ferguson have hailed Manchester United team-mate Antonio Valencia, claiming that the Ecuador winger is a player who can do everything well.
Valencia picked up the Player of the Year award last season at Old Trafford and Young, who signed for the Red Devils last summer from Aston Villa, was not surprised, given what he has seen from watching Valencia at close quarters for a season.
"He attacks, he defends, he can shoot, he can cross, he can pass… he has it all and that’s why he scooped up everything at the end-of-season awards. It’s why the players voted for him and it’s why the fans voted for him", the England forward told Inside United.
"He’s fantastic to play with. Antonio, like every other player, knows how to look after himself as well – he knows what to eat, what to drink and he works closely with our fitness coaches", he added.
Valencia also had praise heaped upon him by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who believes that as a player he is consistently improving – a dangerous thought for Manchester United’s opponents.
"Antonio is always very professional and a great human being. I’m very happy with him", said Ferguson.
"He’s one of those players who is constantly maturing. Without doubt, his best position is wide right – he’s fantastic there."
The Ecuador international will need to continue his superb form to help Manchester United reclaim the Premier League title from Manchester City this season.
Valencia joined Ferguson’s men in 2009, arriving from Wigan Athletic.
