Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm had admitted to being "surprised" that the Welsh giants wish to extend his contract at the club.

Vorm has impressed hugely at the Premier League outfit since arriving last summer from Dutch side FC Utrecht and gained a number of admirers.

relatedNewsStory Upon landing at the Liberty Stadium, the 28-year-old penned a three-year contract but, so impressed have Swansea been with their shot-stopper, they would like to extend that until 2016.

And Vorm is delighted with what he sees as a big vote of confidence from the club.

"I was actually a bit surprised that Swansea City now want to extend", the goalkeeper told Dutch daily De Telegraaf.

"I have had a good season so far, but when a new coach comes in [Michael Laudrup, ed.], it always remains to be seen what they think about that."

Vorm is then happy to have convinced Laudrup and have caused Swansea to want to keep him for longer.

"Swansea find me important for the future and the offer of a contract until the summer of 2016 is a token of appreciation.

"When my agent Wessel Weezenberg is back from his holiday, the final details will be discussed, but it is definitely happening."
