Cristiano Ronaldo has promised that Real Madrid will beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou next weekend.

The Portuguese forward scored a hat-trick as his side thrashed Deportivo La Coruna 5-1 in La Liga last night and, despite a midweek Champions League match against Ajax being up next, thoughts have skipped ahead to the trip to Barcelona on 7th October.

relatedNewsStory With Real Madrid already eight points behind the Catalan giants following a sluggish start to the season, which included defeats to Getafe and Sevilla, the pressure is on for Jose Mourinho’s men to avoid defeat.

But Ronaldo is confident they can do better than that.

"Well, we know playing Barcelona is difficult", said the Real Madrid star.

"But we have to stay focused and be confident that we can win there – we will win", he added.

"We have the quality to win at the Camp Nou. We will see what happens."

Ronaldo has so far scored six goals in six La Liga appearances.

In the Champions League he scored against Manchester City in the club’s group stage opener. It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will hand him the opportunity to add to that tally against Ajax this week, with the Barcelona clash undoubtedly more important.
