Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stated his desire to reshape the club’s stadium and training ground, developing the facilities still further.
The club’s Bernabeu home currently holds 85,454 and underwent its most recent renovation in 2001.
relatedNewsStory But Perez is ready to completely change the look of the Bernabeu in an extensive project to ensure it is the best football arena in the world – and the Spaniard already has four impressive designs to choose from.
"Our goal now is to improve our stadium and training ground", Perez told Spanish daily Marca.
"There are currently four prestigious architectural improvements and possibilities for expanding the stadium", he added.
Perez is aiming for the Bernabeu to be fitted with a retractable roof and is hoping to see work begin by next summer.
The Bernabeu was started in 1944, being opened three years later, and has been expanded in 1953, 1992, 1994 and 2011.
