Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has paid tribute to the club’s young talents, but cautioned that it is going to take time for him to reshape the side.

The former Swansea City manager gave some of his young guns another run out last night in Liverpool’s Europa League clash against Udinese.

relatedNewsStory Rodgers did play more experienced players than had been the case during the club’s 5-2 win over Norwich City in the Premier League last weekend, but saw his side go down to a 3-2 defeat to the Italians.

Nevertheless, the Northern Irishman is delighted with the progress his young stars have made.

"Seeing some of the younger players come in has just been fantastic", he told Liverpool’s official site, before adding the warning that the job he has at Anfield will still be a tough one.

"But there’s a lot of work to do here and that will take a bit of time", he added.

Rodgers did insist though that he is working with a superb group of players who have the attitude to correct the mistakes they make.

"We have to keep working hard to correct our mistakes and thankfully we’ve got a great bunch of players who are committed to that."

Liverpool will be hoping to get six points on the board from their next two Premier League games, the first of which sees them welcome Stoke City to Anfield on Sunday.

After that, the Reds play host to newly promoted Reading, one of Rodgers’ former clubs.
