AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has refused to be downhearted after his side lost the Milan derby 1-0 against Inter.

An early goal from Argentine defender Walter Samuel proved decisive and, despite Inter later having a man sent off, the Nerazzurri kept hold of their advantage to take all three points.

relatedNewsStoryThe defeat leaves Milan with just two wins from seven games in Serie A and piles pressure on Allegri.

The former Cagliari coach however was quick to slam the referee for his performance in the derby and also insist that the season is still in its infancy – and Milan will certainly rise up the table soon.

"We must put aside our league position and look at the performance", said Allegri.

"I regret the fact that we have lost, as do the players, but we must accept it.

"I thought the team played well. We had plenty of shots on goal and only couldn’t score.

"I don’t like to talk about the referee, but he made a lot of mistakes and influenced the result.

"When this happens against Milan, we never talk about it."

Allegri though is remaining firmly positive and is sure the worm will turn very soon.

"My morale remains high. The league is definitely not over and we’ve only played seven games."
