Arsenal shot-stopper Vito Mannone has attempted to quash speculation of a move away from the Emirates Stadium by insisting he wishes to remain with the Gunners for as long as possible.

Mannone had admitted that he would like to play for the club he supported as a boy, AC Milan, at some point in the future recently, while there were also suggestions he was keen to return to Italy and push for a senior national team spot.

relatedNewsStoryAnd while the 24-year-old does have international ambitions, he is focused on achieving them with Arsenal.

"I want to make it clear, because there have been unfounded rumours, that my contract is not ending in 12 months", Mannone told Arsenal’s official site.

"I’ve got a few more years and I’m happy to be at Arsenal right now. I’m looking at the present and my future is not in doubt", he continued.

"I want to stay at Arsenal as long as I can, I don’t want to move to any other club."

Mannone has been handed a chance to impress of late, in the absence of Arsenal’s regular number 1 Wojciech Szczesny, and he has grabbed it.

The Italian has looked assured between the sticks as part of an Arsenal defence which has clearly improved from last season.

Mannone will be hopeful that he has shown manager Arsene Wenger that he has what it takes to fight for the first team spot between the sticks at the Gunners.

He has also done his stock no harm if he chooses to move elsewhere at some point in the future.
