Hulk believes that Zenit St. Petersburg will soon be considered as one of the greatest teams in Europe and explained that coach Luciano Spalletti convinced him to move to Russia.

It seemed that Hulk would be remaining at FC Porto for most of the summer, despite much speculation of bids from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, but in the end it was Zenit who coughed up an amount the Portuguese champions simply could not refuse.

relatedNewsStoryThat sum is believed to be around €40M and ensured that the highly rated Brazilian striker is turning out for the Russian Premier League champions this season.

The switch came as a surprise to the football world, but Hulk has shed some light on just why he chose to go to Russia.

"All summer I heard rumours, but neither I nor FC Porto were interested in a transfer", explained the striker.

"Before choosing Zenit, I had a long conversation with Spalletti.

"In fact, it was he who sold me the club really well.

"He told me about the infrastructure and the project which is designed to create a great club, and that is precisely what I found when I got here.

"Zenit will soon be one of the greatest clubs in Europe."
