Liverpool look likely to face opposition from Borussia Dortmund if they make an attempt to sign Hamburg forward Son Heung-Min, according to German daily Bild.

The South Korea hitman is making giant strides forward under coach Thorsten Fink at Hamburg, so much so that the Bundesliga club want to extend his contract, which is currently due to expire in 2014.

relatedNewsStorySporting director Frank Arnesen has pencilled in the winter break for talks to begin but, given growing interest in the 20-year-old, may have to speed up plans to start negotiations.

News of Liverpool’s interest has already reached Son’s ears and the Korean gave a reply which offered encouragement to Hamburg, by stating "I feel very comfortable here. There is currently no reason for me to think about a change."

Son now has another admirer to take into consideration though, with Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund starting to show interest.

And for Hamburg, were the 20-year-old to leave, a bidding war between Liverpool and Dortmund could ensure a healthy return for a player who joined the club at just 16 years old.

Son has been in good form in the Bundesliga for Hamburg this season, finding the back of the net four times in seven games.

The 20-year-old forward is most suited to operating on the right side of the attack, but can also fill the role of a central striker if called upon.

At international level Son has won 11 caps for South Korea.
