Luka Modric believes that Gareth Bale should follow the path he laid down in the summer, namely swapping Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid.

Bale’s future at White Hart Lane has become a source of constant debate and former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Davor Suker had his say recently, stating his view that Bale should consider moving to the Bernabeu as it would be the right switch for his career.

relatedNewsStoryAsked by BBC Radio Wales after Croatia beat Wales 2-0 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier last night, Modric agreed with his countryman, insisting that his former club team-mate could most certainly transfer from Spurs to Real Madrid.

"I agree he should play for Real Madrid and I hope he’ll come", commented Modric.

"It would be amazing and I think he can [play for Real Madrid.] He is a good enough player."

Bale stood out for Wales in their 2014 World Cup qualifier against Scotland on Friday, scoring two goals as he inspired his side to come back from 1-0 down to win 2-1.

Real Madrid would surely love to snap up the 23-year-old, especially given their recent injury problems at left-back, where Marcelo has been ruled out for three months, while Fabio Coentrao is also facing at least four weeks on the sidelines.

However, it is unlikely that the Spanish champions would see any bid encouraged by Spurs, who view Bale as a man central to their future ambitions.
