Celtic boss Neil Lennon has warned Barcelona that his side have nothing to lose ahead of the Champions League clash between the two at the Camp Nou this evening.
The Scottish Premier League champions head to face the Catalan giants (preview here) having had their chances of coming away with a victory written off, especially given the goalscoring form which Barcelona’s players are in.
Tito Vilanova’s men have suffered injuries which have depleted their defensive resources, but have simply responded by scoring more goals, as was in evidence at the weekend when Deportivo La Coruna were beaten 5-4 at the Riazor.
Lennon though has not written off his team and feels Celtic are capable of giving Barcelona a hard game.
"We haven’t designed a plan of attack because it depends who plays for Barcelona", Lennon was quoted as saying by UEFA.com.
"We know what Barcelona can do – we have to play our best possible match.
relatedNewsStory"We will field the strongest team possible.
"We got a good result in our last Champions League match so we have nothing to lose. We’re not here on holiday or for the tourist attractions.
"It’ll be a tough 90 minutes for us but it will be for them too."
Barcelona currently top Group G, having taken six points from their first two games, albeit with Russian side Spartak Moscow providing a tough challenge, in a match the Blaugrana eventually won 3-2.
Seeing off Celtic at the Camp Nou would see Barcelona establish a five-point lead over the Scottish side, who have four points, while Benfica have a single point and Spartak Moscow are yet to get off the mark.
