Edgar Davids has revealed he is not earning a penny at English League Two club Barnet.

The Dutch legend, who has turned out for clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur over a glittering playing career, stunned the footballing world by agreeing to become joint-manager and registering as a player at Barnet, a club battling to survive England’s fourth tier.

Despite being 39 years old, Davids has already had a positive impact, inspiring Barnet to a 4-0 home victory over Northampton on his debut and, last night, helping the side earn a 0-0 draw away at Wycombe Wanderers.

The Dutchman has been impressed with what he has seen at Underhill, especially the club’s training facilities.

"I did not know anyone at the club. They invited me for an interview and I went to have a look and liked what I saw", Davids told NUsport.

"When I saw the training ground, I was positively surprised. Moreover, they have plans for a new stadium."

"I am an amateur. I get nothing. Absolutely nothing."

Apart from, Davids admits, the chance to broaden his coaching horizons and extend his playing career.

"I’m getting the opportunity to share my football vision, develop my coaching skills and get my coaching qualifications, coaching with Mark Robson and Uli Landvreugd. I also keep playing and I have taken this opportunity with both hands."
