Frank Rijkaard’s agent has refused to comment on speculation linking his client with succeeding Massimiliano Allegri at AC Milan.

Allegri is under pressure at the San Siro and Rijkaard has been installed as one of the front runners to replace the former Cagliari boss if Milan do decide to make a change.

The next two games are likely to be crucial towards deciding Allegri’s future, with Milan expecting to begin to move up the Serie A table, where they currently sit 15th with just seven points from eight games.

Milan are in action on Saturday when they host Genoa and then next up is a trip to fellow strugglers Palermo.

Should the Rossoneri not show signs of improvement, Allegri could be axed and former Barcelona boss Rijkaard would be a serious contender to replace him.

Rijkaard played for Milan between 1988 and 1993 before returning to Holland to end his career at Ajax.

"I don’t have much to say about it", said Perry Overeem when asked about the prospect by Dutch football magazine Voetbal International.

Rijkaard is currently coach of Saudi Arabia.

He has had spells as a manager with Holland, Sparta Rotterdam, Barcelona and Galatasaray.
