Didier Deschamps has admitted that he should never have quit as Juventus coach in 2007.

The former midfielder, who steered the Bianconeri to the Serie B title in the wake of the Calciopoli scandal, decided to part company with the club after securing promotion, citing a less than perfect relationship with the Juventus board.

Having succeeded in his mission to take Juventus back into the Italian top flight, his decision to walk away was a surprising one and one that he would not have made with the benefit of hindsight.

"I’ve made some mistakes and I am sure I will make mistakes in the future – hopefully not too many, but it is impossible to avoid when you make decisions", Deschamps told Sky Italia.

"If I could turn back time, I would not leave Juventus", he added.

Asked whether he could coach another Italian side, Deschamps admitted it was a possibility, although stressed he has nothing lined up.

"Why not? You never know."

Deschamps currently has other matters on his mind however, such as guiding France to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Frenchman succeeded Laurent Blanc as Les Bleus coach in the summer.
