Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has slammed those who doubted the quality of his team after they beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the Champions League last night.
Klopp’s men took the lead on home turf through Robert Lewandowski, before Cristiano Ronaldo fired Real Madrid level almost straight after.
But in the second half, Mario Gotze picked the ball up inside the Real Madrid half, fed Marco Reus on the right hand side, who crossed for Marcel Schmelzer to score and make it 2-1 to Dortmund.
It was a blow from which Real Madrid could not recover and the Spanish side’s miserable record in Germany continues.
For Klopp, whose team had lost against local rivals Schalke at the weekend, victory was a form of redemption and also a way to blast back at critics which had slammed his side.
"This game will give my players a confidence boost", said Klopp post-match.

"If anyone doubted the character of my team, then they have lost all my respect."
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho meanwhile shrugged off the defeat, pointing out that his side have another two games to play and both are at home, meaning their qualification future is very much in their own hands.
"We have lost a game, but the consequences aren’t dramatic.
"We are second in the standings. We have six points and have two games to play at home."
"Achieving the necessary points to advance is within our grasp."
