Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes that midfielder Victor Wanyama is good enough to play for Barcelona and would command a transfer fee of £25M.
It has been confirmed that the 21-year-old Kenyan has rejected the offer of a new contract at Celtic Park however, with a current deal running until 2015, the Scottish champions are in a strong bargaining position.
And Lennon is in no doubt about just how highly Wanyama should be rated, with a spot at the Blaugrana, a side Celtic played in the Champions League last week, well within his grasp.
"£25M", Lennon was quoted as saying to the BBC when asked how much his midfielder was worth.
"Wanyama has the world at his feet, but his feet are here and they won’t be going anywhere unless we say so."
The Celtic manager was then asked whether he would rate Wanyama as good enough to turn out for Barcelona, the side the Hoops locked horns with in the Champions League.
relatedNewsStory"I think he is, yes", he replied.
The Northern Irishman then stressed that Celtic have a good hand to play when it comes to the situation of the highly rated midfielder.
"If bids come in, we are under no pressure to sell, which is where we want to be with him at the minute.
"We don’t have to sell him because he is on a long-term contract."
